FIRST THINGS FIRST:
1. Don't be afraid to try! Even the best decorators had to start somewhere. We will
show you how to start with the simplest things that cost the least and are correctable if you make a mistake.
2.
Take tips from your current surroundings. Look at the colors you like around you. This includes your wardrobe, accessories,
pillows, place-mats, and just about anything you buy where you have a choice of color.
3. Remember, the cheapest
tool that will give you the greatest "change" for your money is paint. Don't be afraid to use it on surfaces other
than walls. And remember, it can always be repainted if you don't like it! And don't worry, we'll teach you some easy tips
to get you started as a good amateur painter to make the job easier than you think.
4. Learn places to shop
for bargains. We all think we know where we can get things cheap .... but do your homework and look for home items at discount
stores. We'll give you a list a stores to check out and what you might utilize at each type store. All items shouldn't come
from one store.
5. Check out your resources. Look at decorating magazines. Go to the library and browse the
decorating books .... just be sure to allow plenty of time because there are tons! Learn what it is you like, and most importantly,
what you do not like. This will help eliminate items and make you feel less overwhelmed with all the choices available today.
You'd be surprised how many people want to redecorate yet have never looked at decorating magazines!
